Cookies and Local Storage
Last updated: July 30, 2026
This page is about this marketing website. It is not about the Aethyr platform.
In self-managed deployments — self-hosted, on-premises, or air-gapped — the Aethyr platform sends no telemetry and collects no analytics. That is a product guarantee. How data is handled in hosted deployments is set out in the Privacy Policy.
This website is a different thing again: it is how we explain and sell the platform, and it does use analytics, with your permission. We would rather say that plainly than claim a purity the sales site does not have.
What this covers
"Cookies" is the common shorthand, but the rules cover anything stored on your device — cookies, local storage, and session storage alike. Everything below is listed, whichever form it takes.
Nothing optional runs before you agree. Analytics load in a restricted mode that is forbidden from storing anything or identifying you until you accept.
Essential — always on
These make the site work. They carry no advertising identifiers and are not used to profile you, so they are not subject to consent.
| What | Who provides it | Why | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Theme preference | Aethyr (first-party) | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. | Local storage | Until you clear site data |
| Chat conversation | Aethyr (first-party) | Keeps your conversation with the chat assistant so it survives a page refresh. Written only if you open the chat. | Local storage / session storage | Local storage until cleared; session storage until the tab closes |
| Your cookie choice | Aethyr (first-party) | Records whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again on every page. | Local storage | Until you clear site data or change it below |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Cloudflare | Confirms a human is submitting a form rather than a bot. Loads only on pages with a form. | Third-party script and token | Session |
| Error reporting | Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) | Reports crashes so we can fix them. Email addresses, phone numbers, names, and tokens are stripped out in your browser before anything is sent. No screen recording — that is separate and optional, below. | Local storage | Up to 90 days |
Optional — only if you agree
These are off until you accept, and switching them off again takes one click below. If you decline, the analytics cookies are never set and the session replay recorder is never loaded onto the page in the first place.
| What | Who provides it | Why | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Tells us which pages people find useful and which they leave. Loads in a restricted mode that stores nothing until you accept. | Cookies | Up to 2 years | |
| Referral and campaign source | Aethyr (first-party) | Notes which search, ad, or link brought you here, so that if you later contact us we know which of our efforts was actually useful. Never sold, never shared with advertisers. | Local storage | Until you clear site data |
| Session replay | Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) | Records a replay of a small sample of visits, so that when something breaks we can see what actually happened rather than guessing. Everything you type is masked before it leaves your browser. The recorder is not loaded at all unless you accept. | Local storage | Up to 90 days |
Change your mind
What we never do
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not run advertising or retargeting pixels of any kind. Analytics tell us which pages help people. That is the whole purpose.
Controlling this in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data for individual sites, and those settings override anything you choose here. Blocking essential items may stop parts of the site working — the chat assistant will forget your conversation, and the site will forget your theme.
